There must be some way of checking
The RM intranet has Blackbay, it will show everything you have ever scanned and got signed for.

They have changed beyond recognition since then. not enough time for shared van routes to do large packets/specials etc. oh and georoute is not fit for purpose as well. Just put 2 of our old bike duties together and that should be ok for a shared van we all said but planners/managers thought otherwise so added 150 calls on and it's now a disaster.
Ours is exactly the same we now have 1200 calls. we had postman from another office to check our prep rate in week 5
we had a packet count of 235 and they wonder why we can't complete in 4 hours!! we didn't get out the office til gone 10.30.

The Revision in Ellesmere Port has been an abject failure!
We have managers doing "loops" on a daily basis and surely this is not what the "transformation" was about?

Because the planners like to do that, especially if a proper count will not give them the right cuts to the budget.
But why would you/cwu rep allow that to happen? the counts made a huge difference in our office.
Unfortunately our rep has been off with stress but we only recently found out the packet count hasn't been used.
The way we are being treated the whole workforce will soon be off with stress . :arrrghhh

Our proposed revised duties consist of bolting two cycle duties together, re-jigging a few roads here and there and hoping it comes out in the wash. After an unsuccessful trial one new duty was created. BSI has been agreed at 90. Currently we are now at disagreement (again) :cuppa

Task 31a is the packet count spread sheet and has a default setting of 57sec per item, although this sheet isn't agreed with the CWU and the standard value of 57sec doesn't tally with the planning values in georoute. I think of the top of my head 86 secs is given for an unsuccesful barcorded item (spl, rec, etc) but when units are doing the packet count the planners don't explain that we need to capture what items are unsuccessful and returned to office. If you have this info then you can simple use the PV in pegasus planning parameters and workout your office average based on the actuals. The planners approach is to simply total what items the staff record and then deduct this from the recorded traffic for the week:

1000 (packets, spl, tracked, etc) recorded by the mail centre
500 (items counted by the staff)

1000-500 = 50% attendance call and this percentage would be used by the planners in geotool. I have noticed in one office that did the count last October has a attendance percentage of 43% so on there model week of 22,000+ plus packets, spl, etc the planner will try to only plan to handle 9,000+ due to the 43%.
Knocking at neighbour isn't planned also.

Walk hazards (dogs, paths, poor lighting, etc) have no PV within the tools so your safety reps would need to identify the safe system and extra time to deal with each hazard. Although the planners are unable to understand this, safety considerations is actual mentioned within the joint statement on spans.

Very unrealistic indoor workload, in terms of what they expect to be done by the time they say you should be leaving the depot. Too much time allocated to IPS/packet sorting/portering, covering the general indoor work of those duties that are a real nightmare for lino, who concentrate on on frame prep to get get out early but still leave mail behind daily. Even if you only do your guideline amount of time, this does not leave you enough time on many walks to fully prep (including killing off deads) and take indoor meal relief.

So you end up with <4.5 hours to travel out to the walk start; deliver using the mandatory tools properly; replenish a HCT in some cases; have a toilet break if needed; take outdoor meal relief; walk back to depot; put failed mail in correct place; fill in o/t claim; finish another happy day at RM.

The scarey thing is that many OPGs cave in to the pressure from managers in a negative way. In order to finish when managers/planners say they should be finishing, they do things they should not be doing and are prepared to sacrifice their paid break, some will regularly go past their finish time and not claim. Since our revision, I have not once been on a P&L walk where the LWT has been used for a single loop, OPGs are carrying far more than 5Kg in a shoulder pouch, even when they are not delivering to blocks of flats. Making those who try to do a fair days pay for a fair days wage stand out like a sore thumb and ultimately cost jobs at the depot and/or contract upgrades for PTers.

Oh and let's not forget them ripping away our early Saturdays to reduce job satisfaction and ignoring the fact people have lives. Vast majority of our workforce is male, and plenty of those have season tickets for football, large and/or young families to tend to etc (Not to ignore our female colleagues of course, simply making a point!). You'd think that with it being a 6 day operation, they'd at least have the common decency to lay off the operational penny pinching and give us 1 day out of 6 where we could finish earlier in the week. My punters are livid we're always "late", out past 2pm, and most people (what a shock!) have lives on Saturday and don't want to sit in for the full day waiting for a packet because they're scared we'll miss them, resulting in an extended journey of up to an hour to get to the DO - those that aren't disabled or elderly, that is.
Meanwhile, on the DO noticeboard: "The way to a happy customer." :left:

Hang on where the heck do you get 57secs and 86secs from, we've had repeated discussions with management telling us that a signed for is 5 minutes, and a non signed for is 3 minutes, when on packet duty we were required to do 20 per hour, which sort of equates with that, with P&L it takes longer that 57 secs to drive up get the packet, get to the door etc, so no wonder deliveries are failing.
