been a rep for 10 years. this has been the hardest 4 or 5 months ive done or my colleagues. gotta weather this storm and hope we come out the other side having carved out some small victory. all you union members/supporters out there... thanks a million. youre what its all about. its been said many times before but being a rep is a thankless unpaid stressful job. but i just cant stay away from it. even if me doing the job has the smallest impact that helps preserve this great job for me and my fellow workers then its all worth while. if youre a new rep just starting out then all the best. stick at it. one day at a time and accept that youre gonna f**k up now and then. baptism of fire comes to mind.

just signed in at the weekend. ive been a rep for 10 years. processing and distribution. me and my mates on the committee have seen some tough times and weathered some storms but this period has got to have been the most difficult yet. and its not over till the physically challenged lady sings! never has the workplace resembled a battle field. its getting there though. we've got to tough this one out though. its very easy to look inwardly at your own office and think youre fighting it out alone but RMC opens up the bigger picture. up and down the country we're all feeling it and quite clearly all in the same boat. Thats reassuring to know. never has there been a tougher time to be a rep or a cwu member. and if your a new rep, good luck and stick at it! baptism of fire comes to mind. in at the deep end or what! just hang in there. the sooner this bitter bitter dispute is over the better. make no mistake there is not gonna be some big flag waving victory here. this is about salvaging a point. we cannot allow royal mail to force in this proposal in its current format. this set of proposals makes the wayforward agreement look like a kids story book. it really is time to stand and fight. the short term losses are gonna hit us all hard. but they will be dwarfed by the long term losses. total flexibilty? annualised hours? no o/t or s/a? an end to seniority? pension reform? the pile of s**t is endless.

they try and force this in then theyre gonna have a 1000 watfords up and down the country. we know it royal mail know it. they need an agreement. hold firm people. thanks for your support and good luck.

and if you came into work during the last strikes, then its never to late to reverse your decision. all will be forgiven. anyone want to borrow this soap box!!
