DOM tells us any holidays outstanding will be lost!

We have it all the time as well. Even this weeks overtime availabilty list has 3 names on it who are on a/l but will come in if needed. Theyll get paid for it and just lose their holidays.

Then the DOM is (should be ) in trouble. As will the OPG.

Why would anyone in their right mind work their holiday week and lose the holiday .
If they got paid and still were able to keep the holiday for later on in the year, I could understand it!
Don't agree with working annual leave!

Its illegal to stop you from taking a holiday, operational reason can be considered but provision must be made to take it a later date, they cannot deny any holiday and they certainly cannot take it off you, if you let them get away Victorian management practices, they will come back for more, take a stand and draw the line in the sand.

No you are not being laid off.
I presume he is asking you to take a week's holiday next week, probably because he has found he is overstaffed.
For confirmation though, best to ask him. He won't bite.

Thanks for that, i just didn't want to ask him and him tell me i am getting laid off, so hopefully have a week off or could he be asking me to work the full week because someone is having a week off ? i am only on a 24 hour contract

Just as easily he could be asking you to cover someone else's annual leave and that might mean you doing more hours or more days.
Who knows?
Ask him not to be so cryptic in his texts.

It's not a cushion it's a Zabuton,
It's a Japanese World Class Mail replacement for the IPS/Prep stools.
IPS and RM 2000 frames will now be fixed directly to the floor which equalises the height differences between employees and allows us all to sort into the golden zone.

Update: I contacted area rep, who it turn contacted DOM, who has now back tracked and allowing annual leave to be used where possible and allowing any outstanding days to be carried over.

Also, he's no longer going to be able to block a whole weeks leave off to others when a one day contract postie books time/day off.
