I would mention that when you contact Moya - its directly unfair and therefore illegal.

I don't know which is more worrying that managers spout this nonsense out of spite, to make their life easier, or poor training and development. What really concerns me is that the evidence points to a combination of all 3. Its as though they don't teach them even basic employment law that you can find on the internet.

We do the rolling seniority, which is a good idea. No matter how long you've worked for the company, everybody is entitled to holiday that they wish for. The problem we have is to do with the numbers that are allowed off in the week. Ours is something like 18, which is fair enough, but the problem is that those 18 might only have single days of in a particular week, meaning that 10/11 might only be off at any one time. But our office concludes that you should count those days off as whole weeks, therefore we always get loads with outstanding holiday complaining there are no spare weeks left

POAL = Purchase of annual leave

Why do you divide the slots into 48 weeks, not 52?

Because the four weeks leading upto Xmas Day normally have a complete ban on annual leave.

I joined RM at the end of November and got to look at the holiday sheet a few weeks back. The folks in my group picked their holidays at the start of November. May and one week in Nov all that was available this year. Very confusing and disappointing as hoped for weekend break in October. May is mine anyway due to baby due then.
What I wonder is if holidays are booked in blocks are individual days available for time off?

Thanks RedTrolley, I'll try that. It works out at 19 per week for our office, not the crappy 15 we've been fobbed off with.

Why are managers being allowed to get away with greying out one OPG being off for the whole six working days, if an OPG is only asking for the odd day or two off in the week when they are normally contracted to work three or more days a week? Stating "Jill/Fred" normally comes in on scheduled days off to do part/whole days on o/t is not an accpetable answer, that is your manager right there admitting there are vacancies that are not being advertised in the name of budget savings.

Christ, this should not be difficult, they are putting the information onto a computer shread sheet and not writing it freehand on a paper calendar.
