Why are saying you will deal with it? You are not a manager, you simply tell complaining customer that it was not you (if that was the case) and say someone else covers your standard days off, holiday and annual leave.

It could be worse, you could be assigned to a walk where one OPG does things by the book and the other cuts corners including breaking the SSOW security protocol (leaving mail in a locked up HCT unattended for >2mins in a "high risk area" for example). The one then doing the job properly then gets regular "performance issue" accusations thrown at them by lino because the cutter finishes the whole round early while the other cuts off and still has no certainty of finishing in time.

I think you need to grow a thicker skin.
If i felt embarrassed for every mistake Royal Mail made i wouldn't show face on the street again.
Explain, give them the number of customer services if need be,avoid getting into any argument and move on.
If you are a duty holder and make very few mistakes your customers will know that.
Don't get involved in slagging off a colleague,it's very petty and can be hazardous to your own employment security.
I do agree with a few things that your saying Fish but I am sorry for taking pride in my job and gutted that Royal mail employees dont all feel the same.

Nothing wrong with that.
What others do is not worth losing any sleep over because there's nothing you can do to affect it and if you let it bother you too much you'll end up in a fight with the floater which could end badly for you...and your customers.

So you don't make many mistakes? Perhaps your floater has to put up with people complaining about you when he covers your walk, only he doesn't mention it to you because he realises how ridiculous it is.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and we all think we make less mistakes than others. If this is all you have to worry about then you are indeed a very lucky person!

Do your job and go home. Let your work mates do the same! :no no

I float and find mistakes from the regulars (and probably they find mistakes from me) - I don't care though, just get on with my job till my finish time then go home and enjoy myself. I wouldn't waste my energy trying to 'deal with the mistake' as that's down to management if the customer complains - which they 99% of the time don't.

I care because I take pride in my job and like to give the customer a good reliable service. You might not. We all make mistakes but I very rarely mis deliver. Why should I deal with other peoples mistakes?
Because you like to give your customer a good service. I presume you've had a word with him?
