Accidents at work SHOULD not count when it comes to issuing stages. It's in the policy somewhere. Get your rep onto it.

When the original stage 1 was triggered but not issued the manager dealing with it made the decision not to count the AOD,this will have been recorded in your sick absence record which you have access to.

The new manager cannot retrospectively overrule that decision,once a decision has been made it's written in stone because the decision was made by another manager based on mitigating circumstances given at an interview almost a year ago that you attended and the new manager didn't...it would be grossly unfair for him to make a judgement now and ask you to argue your case again 10 months later.
If he attempts to issue a stage based on the already discounted AOD get your branch involved...it's wrong on almost every level.

I ended up with a stage 1 after conracting tendonitis in my ankle. Which was brought on by work and considered an accident at work!

its common practice in our office iv had 2 stage 1 warnings for AOD 1 was issued even though royal mail admitted liability and paid compo my line manager decided i was off to long even though i had doctors notes / atos reports / and phisio saying i was not fit for work seems my line manager knew beter than them but as far as i know had no medical training ect seems hes just one off them people who know everything

On paper yes thats true

However a lot can be done with your rep at a stage 2 level if its unfair.

Cannot remember the last time a stage 1 was not issued.........regardless of the circumstance surrounding the absence.
Going into interviews hoping to find a technicality, coz i've certainly got no chance of appealing to a managers discretion on the matter.
They won't be happy till the whole office is on an attendance procedure of some sort. Tossers.
