No I haven't. I booked time off rather than cross the line. If I was a spineless waste of space I wouldn't've criticised senior managements dunderhead plans repeatedly - which has cost my career at RM.

You have no idea what you're going on about.

I would be loath to criticise an ex manager - I have known able people who rather than be back stabbing, arse licking managers returned to the blue shirt and in many cases they would have made better managers than some I could mention. They were knowledgeable and intelligent which for starters would pretty well exclude them from the sorry bunch we seem to end up with.

Don't be ridiculous. if I was a spineless swine I would've unquestioningly crossed the picket line without hesitation. I stood up for what I believed in but not participating and protesting through the official channels.

Tommo, you're full of it. You have no understanding of the situation managers are in. You ignorantly tar all managers with your prejudices. I respect myself because I did vocally stand up for what I believe in - and senior management tried to screw me by any means necessary to silence me. The vast majority of managers I knew shut up, put up, and did as they were told. THAT'S a lack of backbone.

If I were a jellyfish I'd kotow to you. But I'm not. I bet this must really piss you off that an Ex-manager not only has the balls to say what he thinks, but also proves you wrong, because you think all managers are brainless corporate lackeys. In the meantime you go around in an apoplexy of foaming rage that I dare answer back. Well, tough. If you had a back bone you'd talk to YOU Rmanagers the way you talkj to me. But instead you hide behind the anonymous veil of the internet saying to me what you wish you had the balls to say to others. Pathetic.

At least I told them what I think to their faces and with my name on. You're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. You rage on and on ... but you never come up with any ideas for how to fix it - short of killing all managers and dancing on their graves. How very 1917.

Why should Tommo, or anyone else for that matter, come up with solutions to get Royal Mail out of the hole it has dug itself?
As for being very 1917, I hope shooting managers didn't just end there as I'm hoping for a better future for my kids, and the absence of managers will play a big part in them having it.

"... if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem..."

Does that ring any bells? He goes on and on about that as if it solves everything. Gee bloody whizz. I offered the business solutions - and it pigheadedly continued down some fairly crazy paths.

Every business has managers - and every business always will. Getting rid of managers perse will solve nothing. Getting rid of bad ones will solve everything.

The fact I've even said anything is surely proof I wasn't one of the management herd. My sympathies are limited when I get gobfuls of abuse for daring to suggest that maybe not all managers are pure evil. Unless I agree entirely with everything all of you say I will always be in your eyes, a useless spineless yes monkey scab piece of shite. Yawnarama.

And yet all the criticism is of "Yes-Men", when all you want is to be told the same - a bunch of Yes-men on your side? You want to be told all the time "You're Right" and not dare have any of your opinions challenged in any way? Pathetic. A truly small way of thinking. Grow a backbone and take a bit of stick from people who don't agree 100% with everything you say and do. You've got to be able to take what you give or you're a hypocrite.

It's like a dictatorship where dissent is outlawed. Just like RM Senior Management. JUST LIKE RM SENIOR MANAGEMENT.

You chose to become a manager. You must have realised the consequences of that choice. Don't confuse the need to manage an industry with the need to have a set of managers. Workers are quite capable of running things themselves without a set of 'experts' telling them what to do. Getting rid of managers will mean we will run the job to suit ourselves and the customer. Getting rid of managers will do away with most of the bad feeling and discontent which managers feel is a neccessary part of any job.

I was born a member of the working class, and I chose not to crap on my class. I'm very proud of that fact, and I'm also very proud that everything I've got, I've earned honestly. No manager can say that.
