Could POSTMAN ellaborate on this - I cant see any dodgy/lino comments on this thread. We all seem to be in agreement - as soon as it snows, managers try to shaft the unwary.maisymoo04 wrote:What's this managers crap who's on hereDirtyHarry wrote:I second that.POSTMAN wrote:Message to 'some' of the lurking managers on here, you are scum.

If they sent you home as there was no delivery to be done because of the weather they can NOT ask you to work 'for free' so to speak. It's not your fault the weather was dangerous.
Any new members of staff here. Don't listen to lying managers. Check with the union and they can provide you with written proof.

Thought it was common knowledge and perhaps obvious as you don't have to show us your birth certificate to get on the site.
Of course there are screws on,of course 'some' of them are scum. Most of them apart from 2 who have outed themselves lurk.
Disclamer:It is well versed on here that we slag off our wankey blue shirted colleagues,so don't get your Primark shirted/bloused backs up.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We got sent home by DOM today due to weather. He said no clawback of hours but asked for a bit of flexability in the coming days. Obviously he has got more sense than some DOMs

Re: Sent home can they do this?
Our previous dom applied clawback after sending us home because of the weather. In addition he would screw us on overtime, meal breaks etc. RM bosses know it happens and the performance bonus structure encourages it. So they are all implicit in the corruption. Trying starting up a small business and then continually breach employment law and see how long it is before the authorities close you down. How the hell do RM get away with it?

Dear Colleague,
RE: Severe Weather Conditions – Pay & Modernisation Agreement
Since the publication of LtB 95/2009, the Postal Department has received a number of enquiries.
It appears that in some areas management are attempting to introduce unagreed adjustments to hours or forcing individuals to take unpaid or annual leave when they were unable to attend work due to the weather conditions. Some managers are claiming to justify this approach by quoting from a document entitled “Severe Weather Operating Manual for use in Royal Mail”. This is an unagreed management document. Furthermore there is no provision within the Pay and Modernisation Agreement for clawback of hours as a result of what is tantamount to an ‘act of God’.
Each individual case should be looked at according to its merits and the local weather conditions. Any problems should be taken through the Industrial Relations Framework. During this time the status quo should remain.
Any enquiries regarding this LtB please contact the DGS (P) Department quoting reference number 60000.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Re: Sent home can they do this?
They wouldn't let us out so we just bummed around the office. Checked over our walk logs, tidied up our frames, checked and tidied our redirections etc. Eventually our Dom sent us home because he wanted to go home.
There's always something you can do round the office if they don't want to send you out.
