Beverley - Royal Mail U-turn urged over undelivered items

EAST YORKS: Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart is urging Royal Mail to reconsider its decision to stop dropping off undelivered items at local sub-post offices.

Items too big to be delivered in his constituency are now taken to the sorting office in Annie Reed Road, Beverley, and people must pick them up from there.

Mr Stuart said: "I have heard from many constituents that it is most convenient for them to be able to collect their undelivered items from their local sub-post offices."

Royal Mail says it has stopped dropping off items at post offices because a Royal Mail pilot last year showed people's preference is for the new delivery-to- a-neighbour scheme.

Mr Stuart said: "I have asked Royal Mail to reinstate the old system of dropping off undelivered items at local post offices, as this is what many of my constituents want.

"Royal Mail is there to serve its customers, not to run the business to suit itself."

So, we can rely on the ConDem government not to be self-serving for the remainder of its term then :cuppa
