Whats the chance of the strikes being canceled?
Hi, I'm planning to go on holiday for the strike weekend. So what do you reckon the chance is that the strikes are canceled? Just started so don't laugh. But am i right in assuming that we aren't getting paid for strike days?
Most i've spoken to think it'll take a weeks strike to, get any resolution.

Technically even though we will be on strike you have to be ready to work as soon as you can. In practice if the strikes are cancelled at the last minute anyone who has not been informed and stays away from work will still be classed as on "Official Industrial Action". This means you will have your pay abated for the days you don't come in, but you should not be disciplined for it. How long the period of grace would last I am not sure, but as a rule of thumb I would estimate 1 shift only.rmware wrote:Hi, I'm planning to go on holiday for the strike weekend. One of the ideas behind a picket line, apart from spotting strike breakers and making a point, is that if the dispute is settled to your and your unions satisfaction, you can return to work immediately, thereby minimising the cost of striking.
Another good reason to attend the picket line.

If the union cancel the strike this time around without all strings removed and the pension sorted WE ARE FCUKT. Strike action must continue throughout all future talks. If RM say they won't talk whilst stikes continue tell em to f*ck off. They will have to talk eventually cos Gordon Brown wants an election whilst he's got a sniff of a chance of winning it. He won't tolerate a major dispute f*cking up his plans. Leaving :lfo :cfo no choice but to back down.

No chance of that, methinks RM will see what the turn out for the strike is,they dont give a monkeys about the "service"the goal now is to try and break the union, then it'll be easy to steamroller over the workforce........we need to be strong and united......pass it on.rmware wrote:Hi, I'm planning to go on holiday for the strike weekend. The PEC have voted unamiously that the strikes will only be called of if they have a deal that is ready to be put to the members.
So the way things have been going, bon voyage.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
