Use it or lose it

Rang angard to enquire about holiday hours accurred and after they gave me the number of hours they told me they have to be used by beginning of march otherwise I lose them. Problem is I am still working regularly and am worried if I take this time off I will end up like other angardees out of work but on the other hand I don't want to lose the holiday money I am entitled to

I am not sure how legal the "use it or lose it" statement is. It is effectively money you are entitled to and they have never told you when it had to be used by. I think the only thing I had as a date was the end of my contract - now they have turned it into a rolling contract after my 52 weeks initial contract I had never been given a date by Angard - until I asked. They still havent told anyone the cut-off date voluntarily and you only find out if you actually ask them when you need to use it by. Maybe they are hoping lots of people do not ask so they dont have to pay lots of money people are entitled to.

Personally, I am booking 2 or 3 days holiday per week from now until the cut off date. I wait until I know days in the week I have not worked and then send the form in with those days as holiday. They do not state you have to actually book in advance - you could possibly book some days where you did not work in previous weeks. You only need to book in advance if you want it paid on time.
