Refusing to work with someone is "making things official" isn't it?
As a manager had already been told about the "Incident of the Hatch Left Open" the grassing had already been done - or is putting it in writing to leave a paper trail some form of higher grassing in your book?
You were worried about being blamed for lost Special Deliveries. I simply gave you a way to cover your back.

I've worked alomgside some right cnuts in the past few years.
Aggressive, dishonest, bullying etc etc - and your big gripe is:
He leaves the hatch open at the callers office?

Big f***ing deal.
And if the Specials get stolen? Are they yours to worry about?

Yes it would be my problem if there is only two of us working indoors and anything got stolen....my word against the other postie as to who was to blame for leaving the hatch open?
That's why i worry.....today i had 80 ++ specials to scan out to various couriers/customers...if any of these items were to go missing while i was working in this office then i would imagine i would be in the s.h.i.t one way or another..would i not?
No big F***ing deal i suppose....

You said "i don't agree with how this person works and their attitude" and it has constructively been suggested how this can be resolved.
Just put things in perspective and remember that you're not married to this person, not even sharing a flat with them, merely working with them for which you're being paid, and you're even sheltered from all the rain and snow.
