Decline in vehicle standards

Post by andy2007 »

We have had a worrying decline in the standards of Trailer and Van maintanance in Logistics. :mad Which has lead to a couple of accidents, and numerous near misses over the past few months. And it's still getting worse! :arrrghhh

Is this just happening to us, or is it happening throughout RM?

Our Health and Safety Rep has been run off his feet dealing with all the problems. Unfortunately, we get Trailers from all over the Country, which makes it a lot harder to sort out. :d'oh! :arrrghhh

I know that Lazy and Dozier :lfo :cfo are trying to save money, but this is stupid!!!!! :mad :d'oh! It's only a matter of time before someone gets Hospitalised or worse! :hmmmm :arrrghhh

Anyone got any ideas about what we can do in addition to the H+S Reps efforts? :pray

I was afraid of that.

I realise that the Union is currently busy with the IA, but surely if this problem is RM wide, they should go to HSE and ask them to investigate? :no no :hmmmm

I had a Team Brief yesterday, and confronted my manager about this problem. Aparently it is "not practical" for the vehicle inspections to include a proper check of the wooden floors, and roller doors.  :d'oh! :evil/mad To be fair, he has been getting just as pissded off about this as us. But surely this is not an acceptable situation. :hmmmm

I admit, that I was still very angry about the accident that had happened a few hours before I typed my previous Post. And I don't want to panic anyone. But something MUST be done NOW, before it gets any worse!

This is exactly the type of thing that I am talking about. Dispite what they told you, if there is a large crack that the wipers don't reach. Or it's bigger than your thumb, and the wipers run over it, it'll fail an MOT. :d'oh! Therefore they shouldn't even let, you drive it. As for MAKING you take it out, that's insane!!!!!   :no no  :evil/mad

I don't know what the Legal position is, while the current MOT is still valid. But it's incredibly irrisponsible of them to send people out in it. :arrrghhh

same with tyres some people have to change them others get another van depends on who you are,our ex phg decides which pmts get through and which dont this could be dodgy if someone gets hurt because of it i had to log my van of 3 times to get another drivers seat as the old one was burst and leaning to one side which was giving me back ache,i also had some lights out and logged it off because of it,i got the same van back everyday for 2 weeks with the pmt on the log book before someone threw it away
