Angard casuals been laid off again?
I haven't worked since the few days after Xmas. I now find out that some of the new Xmas casuals are still working there, but no Angard. Is this the same everywhere?

Yep never worked over Christmas and still waiting for confirmation of re-vetting. Although to be honest I'm jacking it in anyway after the way we were treated this year.

Re: Angard casuals been laid off again?
It was very busy on the 2nd and 3rd of January but there were only 3 Angardee's in the entire building from what I know of, the rest were Christmas Casuals like myself, who still remain, it's meant to be our last night tonight but the managers have been going around watching people closely making a shortlist (rumours), and it's not an Angard pool shortlist. It was the same last week, Christmas Casual staff were asked if they would like to do the weekends, the Angard staff were just told "This is not for you, you will be back in on New Years Day" and it's happened again this week with the amount of Angard's who have either been moved shift or been told not to come in.

Angard workers are the bottom of the heap yet again....massdebate121 wrote:I haven't worked since the few days after Xmas. I now find out that some of the new Xmas casuals are still working there, but no Angard. Is this the same everywhere?
I was offered the Thursday before New Year but only texted in the afternoon and I was too far away to get to work by 5pm and then not contacted again until last Thursday for the night shift. Then not too pleased to be woken Friday morning after only a couple of hours sleep with a text saying "work available starting ASAP" as if I was going to get straight out of bed and go back to work!I did in the end work yesterday evening. But I have been equally annoyed to find that Christmas Casuals are still working but only a few Angard people.
It's the same old case of getting workers on the cheap even though experienced Angard staff can work 3x as fast. I'm sure the managers on the floor would rather have proper workers but they don't seem to have any say in it. The manager I usually work for was so pleased to see me last night. On Thursday night I was working with people who still didn't know that you use the address on the side of the packet with the stamp on!

Seems Angard are back to the "TEXT RACE" system. First text 'Phone for work next week', second, not too long after "All gone"

I guess it is the same everywhere. It is unlikely to get much better either. The RDC where I work seems to be getting quieter PLUS apparently Angard are being 'encouraged' (TOLD) that they are to take the Xmas Casuals onto their books!! To make matters worse, the weeks they have served as RM Xmas Casuals are to be counted against their AWR target! There you go, and us stupidly loyal and hard working Angardees have been well and truly done over again. So RM benefit by keeping the casuals on (although now Angardees too), some of whom don't know what the heck they are supposed to be doing but hey, they are cheap labour for a few more weeks, then they hit AWR - then what? Oh yes, get Angard to take on more staff at the low pay rate........

Re: Angard casuals been laid off again?
RM casuals at the mail centre I work at have been told the weeks they have already done working for RM direct will not count to AWR qualification. If they did they have a lot of explaining to do as I worked for RM direct pre-Anagrd, along with a lot of other casuals. I, along with other casuals, was transferred to Angard mid November - RM never allowed our weeks from 1st October to be included in qualification for AWR - reason given was we were direct hires and not working for an Agency until we moved to Angard so that time did not count as we were not covered by AWR regulations.WildWestie wrote:I guess it is the same everywhere.
