The idea was a couple of hours OT per day and if successful they would form duties out of it. Sadly only 2 people put their name down for it.

We did have a jet wash until Health and Safety stepped in and stopped us using it due to
environment issues something to do with detergents going down the wrong drain this system
was then replaced with a hose pipe and brush still no additives allowed just plain water.
This was found to be both time consuming plus no time given to do the job and also did a
poor job needless to say the drivers lost interest in using such a primitive set up and now
the hose and brush are back in the store room gathering dust and the vans are filthy

Re: royal mail vans
Slightly off topic, but we have a couple of the new RM Peugot Partner vans in on hire for Xmas. The PDA charging point is set on the drivers door side air vent Which looks neat but I thought was a bit vulnerable, when they came.
Trouble is that if the PDA is not connecting too well you give it a tap down to make contact... which is now pulling the dashboard off! We have a van with 450 odd miles on the clock, with the dashboard already drooping! You couldn't make it up.

Our jetwash has never had detergent and is usually out of use due the the hose spouting a fountain.Beaker54 wrote:We did have a jet wash until Health and Safety stepped in and stopped us using it due to

Re: royal mail vans
Lol, don't get me started on this topic.
I've thought long and hard about this and wondered why the vans are s'heaps - my conclusion is that's it's just down to bone idle laziness, I would absolute hate to see how they live.
Fruits skins, dog eared sandwich crusts, drink bottles, crumbs and crap everywhere, elastic bands stuffed in every available outlet followed by the many hundreds of 739's thrown everywhere.
ain't nowt but lazy. - takes a min to scoop up the crap and spray an interior cleaner across the inside while they are sitting in the van munching or drinking whatever.
Does my barnet in

Re: royal mail vans
Had to use a van yesterday, One I not used before.
Obligatory bananna skins in doorbin, orange peel stuffed down by gearstick - Ginsters cornish pasty wrappers pushed down seats, standard 200 elastic bands wrapped around gearstick, general crap strewn everywhere else & grime windows etc
Absolute filthy with grime built onto every part of the dash, and had the normal RM van - old mans pi55 smell about it.
Threw it back after 5 minutes. Disgusting.
The TV program Life of Grime has nothing on RM vans.. !!!!

Re: royal mail vans
The Dom complained about the state of some of the vans at WTL.
Someone shouted "NAME AND SHAME"
Dom said back "we are not allowed to do that"
Whats the point of even mentioning it then, nothing will happen

However, the point is that they have been warned so if they ignore it and carry on, then the next stage is "counselling" and onwards - perhaps even a "failure to follow a reasonable request" eventually.

Re: royal mail vans
I found a bag of onions in one of our vans once, been under the seat for a while.
