See that single line shows that Royal Mail has supervisors it calls managers, when it needs managers that can be leaders. A Manager should LEAD by example and if you are endorsing that they respond in kind, then its no wonder we have the divisive and poisonous culture we do. If your a Postman its worrying that you think its acceptable behaviour, if you are a Manager then I can only hope that the persona you portray on here is not the same as the one you do with "your people".

What is sad though, a thread that had some comedy value, now has lost that and seems on the edge of turning into a playground slanging match.

For the financial year 2010-11, 14,923 managers were paid a total of £24,986,626 performance-related bonuses
That makes an average bonus of £1,674.37 rather than £3k - but as its an average some would get a lot more and some a lot less.

There were something like 8 posts above your first post none of which were particularly abusive to management and you...spat the dummy out with this...
Guessing you did f**k all for your line manager other than abuse all year then, if you dish it then expect it back
Not only is that pathetic it's based around the premise that an OPG and line manager's roles are similar.
It's not in an OPG's job description to engage and motivate line managers,it is however on page 1 of management for dummies that the engagement and motivation of your staff, especially at times when you need them to go above and beyond should be your number 1 priority.

If you are a manager and you don't understand that most basic of management principles your future in management outside of Royal Mail is limited, inside this company you'll probably go far..
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Wouldn't look for insincere, empty gestures from the people directly responsible for making my working life such a misery.
I hope everyone that laughingly calls themselves, manager, in this crappy company......Had the worst Christmas possible, the least that they deserve.

So Josh if you are a manager/order taker, enjoy the pot of gold, because I do not envy the money or your job one bit. If you have one bit of humility or sincerity somewhere hidden, I suggest you go digging and use it in the new year to at least improve the culture in your own place of work/rest place.

After all the crap that our lino's dished out this year any thanks from them for our efforts would have been very hollow.
For the first time ever, our management team did nothing this year for the staff, except go home early
When you talk of a divide between lino's and staff our's is getting wider ....... so much for new agreements :d'oh!

I shall tackle comprehension and quoting in that order.

If I am acting as a Moderator then the post is in Green and I then try to be impartial Image. However as a member I am also entitled to air my views and that's what I did.

As to spitting a dummy out - you used expletives (spitting a dummy) and expressed an opinion that managers should be able to retaliate, I disagreed with that opinion, and I thought I was quite respectful in putting my opposing opinion across.

For the quote feature please see this thread which may help http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... ng#p268254" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ok then joshbaby.....

"Most Line Managers at Royal Mail are w*****s, bullies and mini-hitlers that would only ever be made a manager in this s**t hole".

You sling the dirt and cry when people have a go at the line-managers. For reasons that can only be obvious. You are either shagging one (ewwww), you are one (commiseration's), or you are mates with one (ewwwww). Failing that you have come across a rare species, a half decent manager. So which is it?

Now I cannot speak for everyone but everyday I do my job to the best of my abilities yet the line 'managers' do their job to their worst abilities (which is very easy for them). I can only name a few places where Royal Mail Line 'Managers' would be actively recruited. The vast majority of them are truly awful, nay, s**t at their jobs.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

thinking back through a haze of drink, my line manager bollocked me for taking to long for m/r, about 2 mins, then pissed off up the town and came back clutching numerous crimbo presents and a burger king bag after about 2 hours. he's a c##t.
