Re: Postman wins case
Well done to him , although it will not compensate him for ending his career.Sadly, the comments made in the Daily Echo are ill-informed and unpleasant.
I presume these were Magnums ? I was off work for a week thru' these.I slipped into the air rather like a cartoon character and landed awkwardly. My managers tried to blame me for it.'of course, presumably they are petrified of some sort of personal liability
although denial and lying and bullying seemed to be their default setting.

She said that the Royal Mail had called an emergency meeting with the boot manufacturers to demand a redesign of the sole but continued to issue them to postal workers.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Postman wins case
I had an AOD when the magnums were first introduced, slipped on a slightly damp path that I've walked down many times before and landed heavily on my left hand side. Ended up with months of pain and abuse from colleagues and managers because I didn't look like there was anything wrong with me (i.e. my arm was out of a sling etc), despite still receiving physio and being unable to walk far.
Even though there was plenty of tread on the shoes, they ordered me a new pair which I noticed had different tread on them to the old pair and weren't slippery.

Must've been that case SM were waiting on to use for my case, luckily mine was settled out of court.

Wonder if I should mention mine to those solicitors then? Never bothered because I figured RM would win...

Re: Postman wins case
Same applies for the Cat shoes/trainers then as they wear out so quickly and then you end up having to either continue wearing them until you get a new pair authorised or wear your own footwear as RM don't realise that the amount of walking will make your footwear deteriorate at an extreme rate.
Surely this should be considered when in talks with footwear manufacturers. That way they could work on a new grip pattern for the sole and/or even a better rubber compound that will improve grip and also last longer as well.

the spokeslady from lawyers Simpson Millar ..added: “Only after a judge decided in the favour of its employees did Royal Mail agree to settle the remaining 14 cases. It is a positive outcome but the company could have saved itself a lot of time and money, not to mention the goodwill of its staff, had it acknowledged its responsibility sooner"
