Manager not deciding?
Today I asked my manager who's gonna stay as a permanent worker among casuals, he said its not him deciding, wut?

Your line manager can't offer you a permanet job AFAIK
Sometimes people are offered a bit of casual work after XMas ( and your manager will have an input here) but until we hear differently "year round" casuals are handled by RMs Agency Angard
Getting a permanent job via being a RM or Angard Casual is a very long shot in most locations

I get the impression they will not tell anyone anything outright till closer to next week anyway , lets face it why take incentive to keep working hard away ...

Knowing the final day is more important to me. In the letter it says it is down to the line manager when your final day is. If it's extended into the New Year and I must work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day + New Year I really would be pissed on £6.20 an hour. Voluntarily unemployed is not an option.
They have been so secretive about everything. No word about extensions and no word about when we finish so far.
I did think it would be the managers decision. As I would have thought he would have put the names forward to the main man on recruitment. I wasn't expecting anybody to get a permanent contract but an extension with the possibility of extra hours after that too.

my mate said one of the people he is working with asked the manager if this was the last week and she was told that it is the last week for the royal mail casuals. however, she is on the "recommended people" list so she should be called in again. i wonder how long that would be for any ideas?

Somebody came around in our Mail Centre today and asked us if we want to do Boxing Day, 27th and 28th (unconfirmed for the 29th/30th as it's weekend), 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
I have put my name down as have some of the other casuals. I just want to know what the rate is on Boxing Day/New Years Day is before I decide to go in or not. 18:00 - 06:00AM on £6.20 would be rubbish. But what they do these is come around unexpectedly rushing you into a quick decision. Say no, and there's no more work for you, bye bye. Or say yes and hope for more extensions for more money than the Job Seekers offer. It's hard. Public transport will also not be running so it could be a great difficulty travelling.
Not heard a thing about a recommendation list. The managers weren't even coming around, and these extra days after Christmas seemed to be offered for all casuals.
