A BIRTHDAY boy has received more than 500 cards after a Facebook appeal went global.
Proud mum Jane Tresise, from Torquay asked all her friends to send her son, Joe, a card for his 10th birthday.
She explained online how he has been 'a star' while she is receiving cancer treatment.
The response she received was massive, with the postman bringing all the cards in a sack.
And when news got out about the special little boy, he was treated to a day out at Woodlands, a trip to the Aston Martin showroom and a procession and presents from bikers charity BMAD.
Jane, 40, is currently undergoing chemotherapy to treat non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
She has had to give up work in the legal sector and is looked after by Joe, a pupil at St Michael's Primary School in Kingsteignton.
She said: "I have to keep myself going for Joe. He is my angel. I don't think he realises how special he is."
Jane explained Joe loves receiving cards and at first only hoped 20 of her friends would respond.
She said: "In the end we had 540 cards and presents.
"We even received money which Joe wanted to donate to Rowcroft Hospice and we have taken off all the stamps to give to charity."
