WHEN a dozen Petworth Postmen pledged to grow moustaches for this year’s Movember, they did not expect to raise as much as they did.

After a month of determined mo-growing, the postmen announced they had raised more than £3,000 for prostate cancer research, which will be matched by the Royal Mail.

On raising over £6,000 in total for Movember, postman Andy Goodyer said the pledges of sponsorship exceeded their ‘wildest expectations’.

He said: “Movember has now finished and Petworth’s finest have grown their fabulous moustaches.

“It certainly caught Petworth’s interest from the start with customers, friends and family showing their support.”

The Royal Mail supports a charity each year, and as this year’s chosen charity was Prostate Cancer UK, the postmen decided to join in the Movember tradition.

The 11 postmen who joined Andy in growing ‘mo’s’ were Carmen Simac, Alex Wadet, Roger Webb, Adam Exell, Bob Whitton, Stephen Boakes, Dave White, Gary Hamilton, Scott Evans, and Terry Carline.

After succeeding in their quest to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, and raising a huge amount of money for Prostate Cancer UK, they have finally been reunited with their razors, and are once again the fresh-faced postmen Petworth residents will recognise.

I always thought Carmen was a ladies name, you know like in the Opera Carmen.
I suppose there's nothing to stop a lady growing a moustache if she so desires.
