POSTAL bosses want extra buses laid on to take customers from the East End to an industrial estate in South Lanarkshire when a sorting office in Cubie Street, Bridgeton, is closed next month.

Royal Mail has promised to press SPT transport bosses for a regular service to and from another sorting office in Cambuslang in an attempt to quell a public backlash.

They insist the closure will go ahead, but objectors are continuing to collect names for protest petitions.

MSP John Mason has secured cross party support at the Scottish Parliament for a motion condeming the decision, as well as the closure or relocation of a third of Glasgow's sorting offices.
