Royal Mail apologises over disruption in Peterborough

Friday, 3pm: Royal Mail has apologised to customers in Peterborough for disruption over its parcel deliveries.

High levels of staff shortages at Orton Southgate Delivery Office, in Bakewell Road, due in part to sick leave, has left some residents in the city complaining of a lack of mail.

Royal Mail spokesperson Morag Turnbull said: “We sincerely apologise to customers in some parts of Peterborough for some disruption caused to deliveries.

She added: “We are working hard to ensure that we restore the high level of service that customers expect and deserve and have brought in extra temporary resource to deliver the mail as quickly as possible.

“Contingency arrangements are in place and deliveries are being made on a daily basis, Special Delivery and other tracked items are being delivered to their specification.”

More like Christmas has come and bit RM on the arse a bit earlier this year. Certainly has at my office and in the region. I knew we were going to get hammered this week and told the DSM the same. Weather was s**t last weekend and everyone stayed in and ordered online, also all the civil servants in this area get paid on the 25th of each month so they get all their Christmas shopping done online out of Novembers pay packet. Being a mere OPG obviously I know nothing
