I have been with Royal Mail since 2007 on a 35 hr a week contract,I was always going to apply for a works pension with royal mail, but kept delaying it ,now i have had a letter saying i will be automaticly put on this new one which seems naff.
can i opt out of it and ask to be enrolled on the pension that royal mail used to do when i started or am i doomed?
Thanks in advance!

That was a big mistake I'm afraid.anthonyok wrote:I have been with Royal Mail since 2007 on a 35 hr a week contract,I was always going to apply for a works pension with royal mail, but kept delaying it
I agree it is naff, but is better than nothing.anthonyok wrote:now i have had a letter saying i will be automaticly put on this new one which seems naff.
You can opt out if you want but you will be saying no the 'free money' in the form of tax relief and employer contributions. You can't be enrolled into the final salary or career average salary schemes because they closed to new entrants in 2008.anthonyok wrote:can i opt out of it and ask to be enrolled on the pension that royal mail used to do when i started or am i doomed?

Why were you not auto-enrolled at the time or did you opt out?anthonyok wrote:I have been with Royal Mail since 2007 on a 35 hr a week contract,I was always going to apply for a works pension with royal mail

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
