i know lets just not bother with sunday collections (distribution and processing o/t).
no need for o/t on delivery (no xmas hourage).due to no one sending xmas cards as there is hardly any english people left in this country.and no extra hourage on parcel deliverys due to any tom dick or harry driving about with there cars full-up of parcels.

Could be good news for postal workers as there will be too many people sorting the mail out and leave us to spend less times on IPS and get out earlier.

..and that's good news how?
Less indoor time means longer deliveries and ultimately less jobs,in a temporary context like this a significant drop in seasonal mail could possibly mean an end to Christmas Arrangements,lost revenue for members and the business and the introduction of lapsing during the festive period.
It could also mean no work for the Xmas temps.
The one upside might be more holiday slots since you won't need 100% staffing during this period.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

And there in a nutshell we have the opposing views.
Union: More work = more hours in the office = more jobs.
Frontline staff: Less work = I can get out earlier. :cuppa
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I can see the trend being that Christmas cards will go down being replaced texts and facebook messages, packets and Parcels will go up and continue to do so as you cannot email a packet or parcel, it has to be delivered physically, we just need to work on that more.

perhaps its time for RM to mount an advertising campaign like they did years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbVFuydEFSQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRfDkx7bw1Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
