The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

seems the only way we will ever see national industrial action again is if we take some direct action against our own union first...

When was the last time BT had some national industrial action?
I think it was 1987.
You can see the similarities, outsourcing, privatisation, the CWU rubber stamping employer proposals,
I hope in 25 years i won't be here.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I hope I will, I'll be 91 and the oldest employee in whatever RM becomes - but I know what won't be here 25years from now - the gravy train will have run dry long before then.

Every manager deserves to be wound up each and every day, never let them make you an easy touch, be a complete twat without being nasty or agressive and low and behold they will leave you alone and not bother you.

aye managing decline is no future at all and I fear the young generation have no culture of resistance or solidarity to fall back on(a new start in delivery thinks we are paid far too much!) and when you add in the free movement of labour policies where workers from the former eastern bloc are invited here to under cut working conditions then its a potent mix which our union still tied to a right wing labour party can only negotiate more pain for less in our pockets and communities.

If you told any working man or woman in the 1970's that their grand children would be working until they are 70 for a pension they cant live on they would have called you a tory bastard.

This is what the potential action in Bristol is all about. If you are being put under any stress by this pathetic behavior by the managers I urge you all to organise and fight back, until you all stand up to these bullies it will only get worse.

We have managers walking around enforcing these rules. They are now really getting on my nerves and others. Some of us are now being retested and the planners coming out with us are just the same, you cant even scratch your balls without being chastised. Is this happening in YOUR office ? if it aint, it soon will be. WE ARE NOT MACHINES.
No wonder morale is on the floor, when will they ever learn that if you treat people well you will have a happy workforce and then get more work out of them

There are plenty of people who would value a job in the current climate. If you dont like yours at RM then do the decent thing -leave and let someone else have the opportunity

Thank's for that Nimbus.
I feel suitably chastised.
What's your occupation...apart from joining internet forums to make the classic,if rather dull and pointless "if you don't like it,leave" post?

Thats a very linear approach to an argument Nimbus, but then your choice of name is an indication of your outlook and view - Nimbus, from the Latin for "dark cloud".

Have you ever considered that people passionate enough to complain about a job might actually like it so much they are trying to improve it, whilst perhaps those that accept their lot may be lacking in commitment and dedication. One officer who commanded me said something that I think is appropriate - "If they ever stop complaining that's the time to start worrying."
