LOL was serving in the Army time of Falklands war,I was deep in virgin Jungle in Belize when it all kicked off,fantastic time sleeping in hammocks
slung between trees when it got dark,never washing or shaving ( the gwats:the enemy) would have been able to smell us from miles away
looked like a tramp in combats,anyway war in falklands finished,i finished my tour of Belize,went back to UK for couple of weeks,then onto
a transport plane to some small dodgy west african country were was held at the wrong end of a big black dude in jungle camouflage and big
shades pointing a machine gun at us,after fueling up we landed in Ascension Island,from there helicopter to a cross channel ferry and then two
weeks of hell bobbing around in south atlantic,am worst sailer in the world,never did get my sea legs,didnt help at one point when captain came over
the tanoy and put us at action stations coz a argy sub was following us

gets to the falklands what a sh1t hole,I go and visit memorial site where i look out for my m8s name (Chris Jones RIP) who died on two sisters from enemy mortar,
did my training with him,great bloke
Lots of argy weapons,vehicles ,planes etc abandoned everywhere and because of my skin colour I look a bit dark skinned, i was nicknamed theargyspy
spent lots of time in argy trenches,vehicles etc pretending to be dead while m8s took lots of photos,so there are a lot of ex-squaddies around in UK
showing there kids/grand kids pictures of a dead argy at bottom of a trench which are in fact me
so when looking for a unusual nickname for forums theargyspy was a good one to pick

Another ex-pongo in the mix. We have some ex-service people on the board, and in the job it seems. Also some Weekend Warriors. Myself I am an ex Crab, or ex Penguin (Guin).

Welcome to the Club. Did Belize myself in 90, province 87-90, Bosnia 94/95. Good times miss em.

No i respect you boys doing service for Queen and Country. The storys are legend in my family of nearly all apart from old man joining up. ARMY,NAVY,RAF. Me n old man slipped out and in to RM Blue

Cuz told me of his Jungle Training in Belize.. And Falklands, The local (BENNYS)

A couple of blokes joined the TA in my Office thru the boys coming in (PRESS GANGING) LOL!!!

what do you mean weekend warrior we did tuesday nights as well, i think s t a b was the usual reference to us when dealing with regs good fun but my feet fall apart now every time it rains for more than 2 days or it gets too hot and sweaty in the shoes

...i've done most jobs from..deliveries to driving(13 years of that)...now a PHG or should i say OPG in the SE London area.

I could never wear the jumpers, but the thermal coats were great! Best coat I ever had from RM. But the winter trousers OUCH>

Your right about the managers too, they used to care but now they just dish out what is dished out to them from their managers and so it rolls down hill.

This is my 17th year now and too many years to go till retirment.

I have also done too many jobs to mention here.

well i've given the company 4 years of my life so far. That would make me a newbie in most parts of royal mail but for mdec thats good going. the staff turnover there is really high. especially on late shift. I've done part time lates, full time lates, earlies and nights now so i've been around a bit. I'm just coming round to the idea that i'll be in this job until i retire unless i get sacked first.
