the review team started work thursday, and their deliberations will be known in 6 month's. a lot of worried people about, but we must remain positive. perhaps we will buck the trend and be expanded?

Or you could argue that it was the last government who so happily introduced DSA that it is responsible for the financial mess that is causing the now necessary cost saving measures.
My guess is that the majority of IP will go to Norwich.

im no fan of the blair years thats for sure, but the prospective labour mp is making the right noise's. if the work goe's the majority will go to chelmsford, but as we know it shouldn't, if you have any regard for the service we provide, the local econemys and the staff who have served rm for many a year the status quo whould remain, but i know im waisting my breath. how national union officials ever got involved in mail centre rationalisation beggers belief. the majority of staff will have one option, travel to chelmsford. not practical for most, and what about the staff under the equality act who end up in processing because of various issue's? the last few years have certainly not been the union's finest times, and if they are about to stiffen their resolve, an awful lot of damage has been done post bt2010.

The question is who'll be doing the Inward runs for Ipswich as you can't split a Postcode unless RM are planning that for the future cos if that is the case certain GU offices could move out to the new South Coast MC as certain offices are not too far away from Pompey. Also what is the future for BH/DT? Will they be moved into the the new mailcentre too?

I think the plan is to keep Southampton and Dorset. Whilst outward traffic is easy to split between MCs, inward is normally done by 1 MC. I could be wrong but I only know 2 Inward codes split between MCs, W and PH.

That was always the problem with GU a very big area (Petersfield DO takes 1hr 08mins at night-time) Maybe in the longterm Gatwick might take the work as Jubilee MC is at bursting point and our main prob is space

Obviously RM may be looking at the Ford site in Southampton. Also didn't they say they were building a big Parcel Force hub in Hamps maybe it may have room for a MC too

There will be a new processing centre for Parcelforce in Chorley. The other new sites for PF will be deliveries only, the statement was Hants and Cornwall. I think what's been in the press as a super centre/hub in Basingstoke is incorrect.
There has been no official announcement of the reviews at Portsmouth and Ipswich, I think they should officially start in the New Year.

We have been losing a lot of work recently - 2C packets and some diverted 2C letters to SO, 2C flats for PO area and IOW to Gatwick for mechanical sorting - not good. At one stage we were going to lose mailsort too! Rumour is that Gatwick will be processing mail from Chichester and Bognor over Christmas pressure to trial if it is workable system
