POSTAL workers at a Royal Mail depot in Bristol will be sent ballot papers asking them to vote in favour of strike action in the lead up to Christmas.
The papers will be sent out on Tuesday asking for their support in response to the abolishment of national agreements and procedures by Royal Mail managers.
Mail is normally delivered to the BS4 and BS14 areas of Bristol from the workplace based in Mead Street.
A mass meeting will be held outside of the depot at 6.30am on Tuesday, November 13 to campaign for the “Yes” vote.
The Union predicts that workers will return a massive vote for strike action when the ballot closes on November 21.
CWU Bristol branch official David Wilshire said “Following the meeting we will be sending a proposal aimed at resolving the dispute to Royal Mail. If they don’t then grasp the opportunity then following a “Yes” vote there will be strike action in the lead up to Christmas.”
