When did you hear about POMC? I had a text an hour ago saying that there was an Emergency WTL at Pomey tonight given by the Mail Centre Manager. Only know that we are under review - should find out more tomorrow :nervous

I'm wondering if DMC (BH & DT), SOMC (SO & SP) and POMC could all eventually go. Looking at that Ford site that is closing it's massive, if RM were to buy that site they could probably move the contents of DMC, SOMC and POMC (and possibly SWDC) into the same site and probably have room to spare. Assuming POMC does close I doubt that SOMC could handle all the area covered by POMC so possibly all SP codes and the westerly SO codes to DMC, lions share of PO codes to SOMC and the northerly and eastern PO codes to whatever MC would be the nearest to the current POMC to the north and to the east (Gatwick?).

Wightlink cancelling all night sailings from next January was the kiss of death for POMC in it's present form.

Possibly, but we all know what happened about the callers office which resulted in VERY senior management sniffing around POMC and seeing loads of things that they didn't like. It's a total shambles really - so much for WCM.

Heard today that BH could be taking all SP code mail, and then SO could take all PO mail their side of the M27,with the other side going to Gatwick, but don't know who would take IOW mails? Also would you really want to split one postcode over two seperate MC's?
A newbuild MC seems more likely, but its early days yet either way.
Just feel sorry for any who may lose their jobs, but there are plenty of people who would leave the business if "the price is right!".
same as it ever was...

IOW would probably goto SOMC. I wonder if DMC may also end up taking DOs in the New Forest area as well.

Did you hear that in a WTL session?

First of all my sincere understanding and wishes to those people that work at portsmouth. It must be a very worrying time for staff and their familes.

Secondly i cannot believe that there are some people on this website who are in other mail centres and under threat of closure, openly stating about how their mail centre could be closed and proposing where they should be moved.
Why not suggest your own fate!! brilliant idea!!!

That's the Plan with the CB mail, CB 1-7 and 21-23 to Peterborough MC and the rest to Chelmsford MC.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Gloucester closure confirmed, all work going to Bristol. Completed by early 2014. Come on down to Bristol, f**king desperate for some new faces. Got any union reps who want to unseat our lot. Got any managers who want to unseat our lot.

At a guess, Chelmsford.

Knowing RM, they'll split it between Norwich AND Chelmsford!!!! :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
