Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
Very good post and raises a point that is open to discussion I feel. Is this an attempt by the union to engage the membership OR, more likely in my opinion, is it an attempt to brain wash the delegates in to accepting the status quo of RM/CWU Joint Management to continue beyond the current agreement - after a fashion, though more like the master and his dog. As for anonymity I have no qualms about speaking my mind and would do so regardless of the circumstances. There will hopefully be enough people at these meetings who are sufficiently in tune with reality that they are not bamboozled into believing all the guff some posters put on here.

Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
The attitude of the National Officers will drive the direction of the debate and possibly the future direction of the postal side of the CWU..
If they turn up to inform then listen to feedback, take on board the views of those present and shape policy based on those views we might stand a chance.
If they turn up with dogmatic decree and simply impress on those present the need to seed that decree in the minds of the local reps the following week and those Divisional and Area Reps in the room accept that position then frankly we've had it,it's over and we might as well go home.
As Ahebban points out it's very much last chance saloon in the minds of many members and local reps.
Unfortunately i have very little confidence that the National Officers are expecting anything other than a nodding dog reception.
The very fact it's been called a "briefing" makes me nervous and coupled with the fact that the Local Reps briefings start only four days later makes me doubt there is any intention of changing or shaping policy in between.
I hope i'm wrong but it will be very much up to those who have remained silent so far despite the obvious issues in their own particular areas to find their voice at last.
The membership have carried the can for various failures in the reporting structure of the union for long enough,if Area Reps and Divisional Reps continue to stare at their feet when asked if they have any problems, when it's plainly obvious from direct member feedback that they have issues they should be removed from their position, not by waiting on the democratic process taking it's ever ponderous and often dubious course but by HQ itself and immediately.

Not as yet but you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be trying to sell us something we aren't going to like - only this time I sincerely hope people don't listen to the harpies and look to their own recognisance - if it looks like crap then it will be. Like the old drugs advert - just say no.

Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
It is disturbing that nothing as been said about the national briefing some 8 hours after it finished. The letter to members will go out this weekend but it is concerning that despite the fact that this site has some very good points and that postman and TBT do a great job informing members of this site of what is going on ! The reality is that the information stream of what really is going on is poor. Thoughts ?

Site flaw
Would be nice to have the roving reporters thing on here when stuff like this goes on,we do get the odd one,but not regular enough.
Shame really.
PS:Last one i went to there was a lot of agreement waving going on by uncle Bob..............while you was eating a sarnie.
I reported back
Didn't mention the sarnie tho.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You sure it was not a pie ? Everyone was asked yesterday not to post on Facebook , tweet or post on any Internet site until the letter goes out to members.

I'd imagine thats because with a letter you can put over the "official view" and edit out any voices of decent.dingo wrote:You sure it was not a pie ? Everyone was asked yesterday not to post on Facebook , tweet or post on any Internet site until the letter goes out to members.
Most of us would like to have the transcript of the meeting, and hear what went on from all angles

If you knew the answer why did you ask the question?dingo wrote:Everyone was asked yesterday not to post on Facebook , tweet or post on any Internet site until the letter goes out to members.
It's an information blackout.
Do you mean do we think it's the right policy to keep members in the dark until the LTM comes out?
That depends on the reason behind it and we can only speculate...unless you know the answer to that as well.

Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
I think it's something along the lines that we are going back to full time only, two deliveries a day, a 15% pay rise, job and finish, cycles, cars on delivery and back to an us and them scenario - oh and 5 oclock starts or a combination of those things.................................
Now if it was do you think there would be a news blackout? I've ordered the KY in quantity.
You would think that those of us who pay the bills would be the first to know wouldn't you?

Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
Personally i got confused with this one and the policy forum for 'local reps'.
Full time release bods, well a lot of them don't like this site,so no,no roving reports.
Shameful CWU blackout(you godda be kidding me some actually took notice) or not.

Re: NATIONAL BRIEFING 8TH NOVEMBER 2012
As the full time release boys and (not enough)girls guard their secrets they might want to reflect on this....how many of the ordinary members actually give a flying f**k anymore?
It's only fun being the only one who knows something if someone else is interested.
How many LTM's will go straight in the bin after reading the first line?
