Is it the plan for the Post Office to fail?

Does the Royal Mail wonder that its service – if you can call it that – is being used less and less?

Until last week, I could go one-and-a-half miles up the road to collect mail that had been undelivered because it was too large, or needed a signature or whatever.

The card that was pushed through my letterbox this morning, directs me to Campbell Street, Leicester.

I live in Lutterworth, which is 14 miles from Campbell Street.

Royal Mail provides various options for redelivery, but all require effort on my part – an e-mail and registration on a website, a phone call and so on.

If it is delivered to a post office of my choice that will cost me £1.50.

Any supermarket or shop that values my custom provides a much better service.

It seems to me that Royal Mail still behaves as if it were a state-run monopoly, which it no longer is, except for the delivery of letters. Like the Post Office, which still has opening hours to suit its staff and not the public, (closing ridiculously early and on Saturday afternoon and not open on Sunday), it deserves to fail and make way for something better, but without its crippling mandate to hand-deliver to every house in the British Isles at the same price.

Wendy Warren, Lutterworth.

Did they actually move his delivery office?
Or did a postie from another office bring their 739 cards with them?
That happens quite often........
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Wendy Warren, Lutterworth.
Wrong.
The reason why Wendy Warren is getting the service she deserves, is because the Royal Mail has lost it's public service ethos, and is simply yet another huge private concern that will, has, is, riding roughshod over the public it pretends to serve first, and foremost.
The golden age of the British postal service will remain firmly entrenched forever, in the days when nobody with at least a grain of common sense, thought that anything other than a 'state-run monopoly', would best serve the public interest.
I said at the beginning, 'Wendy Warren is getting the service she deserves', because she displayed an obvious right-wing aversion to the public sector.
Well, Wendy....You makes your bed, you can lie in it now.

I wonder if Wendy Warren ever wonders why no one gives a toss about her or her views. With an "attitude" such as hers and the complete lack of understanding she displays about the industry she is criticising, she will never be taken seriously.

I hope she is not married, if she is, Mr Warren you have my absolute sympathy.

It might well be that a fully privatised Royal Mail without "... its crippling mandate to hand-deliver to every house in the British Isles at the same price." might decide it is not worth delivering to

Effort? Really? Doesn't even take five minutes.
For some, even getting out of bed is an effort. :chuckle :chuckle
