Just spoke to a mate who was sacked by rm a year or so ago and he says the letter they send the benefits agency is different from the reference they give prospective employers, they do NOT include the reason for leaving.
So that's 4 people.

Unfortunately for you there is no way of concealing why you left, if that's what you're thinking....
You can of course refuse to release the standard Reference which Royal Mail send out but then your new employer would wonder why u didn't release the reference.

I have answered it 4 times. I've also spoke to 4 different people telling me the same thing, only you and hants seen to think differently.

Got pm earlier from a member with a couple of scanned letters in,can't put them up for obvious reasons...
1st letter:I understand you've left RM,yadda yadda,enclosed are 2 docs for your attention.....
More yadda yadda.....the 1st doc confirms all the details of your employment and reason for leaving....
The doc says...
1:The above jobseeker was employed by RMG...
From (start date)
To (leaving date)
2:The last actual date worked (date)
3: hrs per week/month worked (xx)
Hourly rate (£xx)
Pay frequency (W/M)
4:Employment ended because (Please give details of the reason the jobseeker gave for leaving or RM's reason/decision to end their employment.)
Then there is a boxey thing..........with the reason.

Sorry there is no way that anything in your leavers pack from RM has DWP at the top of it for JSA purposes.

You might not think that is the reference but that's how Royal Mail do things. Myself and hantsman have confirmed this. What would be the point of a reference if it didn't include (at least) Reason for Leaving?
Looking to the future , it's not the end of the world if you have been sacked a lot of employers don't even bother with references I've had 4/5 jobs and none have never taken up references not even RM, but then I did start in 2004. (Before the new vetting rules came in)

The first document is to assist you in any dealings you may have with the benefits agency. It confirms all the details of employment and reason for leaving and replaces the benefits agency form es85. It will also help with any benefit claim you wish to make.
Further down it then states:

My guess, and I've also been told by management and union is that the 2 are different.
