newtimes wrote:is the vehicle check times still valid or is there a new schedual. At my office full timers get 10 mins a day for daily checks and 20 mins for weekly checks. I am on a 30hour contract and drive a transit van and only get 5mins a day for daily check and no weekly check time. The p&L duties get 10 mins a day and two 20 mins (40 mins) a week for weekly checks. :d'oh!
Pro-rata time checks?

Ask them which 2 wheels you should check out of the 4.

Makes no difference if you P/T or F/T the time allocated for van checks are the times... If you don't do them you will be responsible if something goes wrong as a result of you not doing them correctly .. If your manager refuses you the correct time to do these checks get your reps onto it and make a formal complaint to cover your back.
I'm not 100% but im sure the checks have something to do with RM operating license

many thanks for input, had a chat with manager, he does not understands about the weekly check, he thinks its to keep the vehicle clean. Not going to have yet an other argument with him, I just said I do not mind who does the weekly check but it has to be done. He is now commited to have a weekly check done of the vehicle, when is an other issue. :nana :nana :nana

Says a lot about this firm if the screws are unaware of the vehicle checking procedure!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
