Northolt Sorting Office Fire

Post by doorstepped »

A fire at a Royal Mail sorting office in Northolt, west London, has destroyed the building's loading bay, the London Fire Brigade said.

The blaze at the premises on Mandeville Road was reported at 16:26 GMT on Monday.

The brigade said there was slight damage to the sorting office building, and four vehicles were also damaged.

The blaze was attended by four fire engines - two from Northolt station and two from Southall.

Police have said the cause of the fire was not connected to any bonfire night activity.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Royal Mail bosses say delivery services are unaffected after a fire which damaged a postal sorting office in Northolt.

A loading bay at the facility in Mandeville Road was also destroyed as a result of the blaze, which took hold at around 7.30pm.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Northolt and Southall fire stations tackled the fire and it was under control in one hour.

The building itself sustained a small amount of damage, along with some vehicles in the yard, but no workers were hurt as a result.

Royal Mail spokesman Morag Turnbull said no existing mail was caught up in the incident.

She said: “We have temporarily relocated our delivery operation to Greenford Mail Centre whilst the structural damage to the loading bay is assessed.

“Contingency arrangements are in place to enable us to deliver the mail to our customers in the Northolt area as quickly as possible. “The enquiry office at Northolt delivery office is open for customers to collect items we have tried to deliver when they weren’t at home and collections will be made as normal.

We would urge anyone with information about the fire to contact the police immediately.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
