Then why are HR telling me different? Surely he would know, the ref they sent the dole did have the reason on it but that's a government agency, they have to know.

Actually the ref they sent to DWP is the same ref, so you have your answer.

You need to think outside the box and try another way for future employment.

I told you what was in it, the letter they sent to DWP and p45 and pension stuff.

Think outside the box? You're going to have to enlighten me.

3 people have now said they DON'T give the reason for leaving, an area rep, manager and hr why would they all lie?

Just to make a point.
It's a good few years since fmrPOSTIE left the business.
It may have changed,i know businesses are very nervous of being seen to prejudice future employment now, that's why personalised references were scrapped and with FOI and Data Protection legislation it's even more dodgy.
I think if mclovin has contacted HR and they say no reason for leaving details that should be taken as the current position unless someone else has more up to date evidence.
There is at least one person from HR on here, maybe one of the mods can PM him/her for you mclovin....
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

What hantsman said! The leavers pack reference is the same as what Royal Mail send out. It's precisely in the leavers pack so that YOU can use this at your will when applying for jobs.

One of the facts on the reference is "Reason for Leaving". End of.

1 In the leaving pack there is no letter that they send to the DWP.

2 If and when you apply to DWP for JSA, ie job seekers allowance, RM will send the same ref that was in your leaving pack, are we clear on this mclovin??

3 You seem to have a great belief in RM..........if Royal Mail told me it was dark outside I would put my head out the window to check/confirm................................are you reading me on this mclovin??? :arrrghhh

I've told you 3 times a copy of the ref they sent to DWP. It has benefit/employment agency in bold black letters at the top of it, which would suggest its a copy of that letter for JSA purposes. The benefit agency is not a prospective employer, they need and demand to know.

Now should they send a ref to an employer with the reason on after HR told me, in a recorded telephone conversation, specifically that they don't, do you not think they're opening themselves up to a world of pain?

After I speak to the union tomorrow I will ring HR again, just to clarify exactly what it is the put in this reference. Are you suggesting, should he tell me the same as last time, that 2 HR staff are not telling the truth?
