YDC - Starting 26/11/12

Post by hodge2002 »

Hi,

I went to the Interview at Normanton Golf Course last week, and got confirmation i'm starting 26/11.
Any idea on what sort of roles the Xmas casuals do at YDC?
I've no idea of what to expect, so any info gratefully received!!!

Cant get the staff these days.

You will be sorting packets/mail.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Hodge i worked as a casual last year but at a temporary warehouse (dunno how your local RM might work) prob the same tho.

The mail centre will receive "Yorkies" at their called Generally red colured cages on wheels full of packets, parcels, mail etc. - Then you will have empty yorkies with for example going to the city of manchester. for example each yorkie will have a card thats placed on the top saying postcode M1 M2 M3 M15 M34 etc and you just look at the parcel and put it in the yorkie that has the 1st part of the postcode it's EASY as that. In a seperate bit you will have Primary & secondary yorkies... thats were you will get mail going to all over britain,Europe,World . That gets sorted into postcode's alphabetically and then its filtered down again into Towns & cities...after a couple of days its really that easy. As it gets nearer christmas it will be really busy with packets from EBAY and you will notice a lot of parcels from AMAZON and other mail order places.Hope this helps Good luck.
