The D2Ds = 5/6 days.

Basically all as per agreements already in place.

Watch the poll cards.
They are to be delivered to specification so it will depend on whether they come through as 1C,2C,Mailsort or DSA.

The service standard for poll cards will depend upon which of our products (eg, Walksort; DSA or perhaps even STL) each returning officer chooses to use. The cards should be dealt with in line with the normal specification for each product stream.

And...

CWU Reps will need to be aware that the poll cards will have to be delivered in line with their product specification.

In theory if the poll cards all came in DSA your manager could force you to take them all out.
The reality is though if they did the office would collapse under a pile of cut offs and he/she would be ripped to shreds at the following day's conference call/bullying session so the truth is you will have as many days as it takes to deliver them and avoid your manager looking like an arse in front of the DSM.

Apparently we were told today (my day off) that they will be all coming tomorrow and will all go out tomorrow on delivery. Can see cut offs galore. I presume just because you get paid extra for each one and you cant claim overtime for them then you are within your rights to cut off still.

So if you are unfortunate enough to be assigned to a duty that is reknowned for needing o/t to complete on a normal day, yet alone one with poll cards, if you choose to complete you don't get a bean for the poll cards while someone on an achievable walk gets an extra ~£75... How does that work then?

Thats a good point. If without the poll cards you regularly go over by an hour then surely you can claim that as normal on a wednesday. Guess its another vague agreement that people can read into it what they want espcially managers.

The agreement says you cannot claim for POLL CARDS. However it does not say you CAN'T claim overtime for normal mail.

So if you have to work over and you are delivering normal mail claim as "Excess mail" not "Polling Cards" - you have therefore complied with the agreement. If the manager dismisses the claim then you can argue that the excess mail would have carried you over anyway and that if it had been a "normal day" even with poll cards you would have completed.

If they still refuse then the next steps up to you.

The important thing to remember is you can't claim overtime for Poll cards, but it does not remove your right to claim overtime for other reasons.

What is the situation if there are two elections happening on the same day? We have a district council by-election [in one ward] on the day of the PCC elections and a second set of poll cards came through today. Our DOM and union rep agree that there should be no separate payment for these. Why not?
