If the majority of members are unhappy with the terms of a resign it's a very easy thing to stop but you have to be sure it's done for the right reasons and as always in these situations as the rep you have to come up with a viable alternative that not only meets the aspirations of the members,it's also as fair as possible, works inside existing national guidelines and fulfils the needs of the work plan.
That isn't always easy.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We are also in this position dim wont budge on splitting resign, driver / walking then ft/pt 4 way split
also using 20-30% of changes as triggers for resign.
we voted (whole office ) for top to bottom resign including all pt sanctioned by mgmt and cwu
now dim wants to ignore vote results and push his own plans in
no % quoted in any agreement only major change
does changing start times, p&l , lwt, htc ,pda all not constitute major change along with all the extra streets flung onto duties
dim asked if its worth arguing about
absolutely
we are already in stage disagreements regards this which is why we had vote to stop action going further mgmt only used vote to stop escalation of disagreement before xmas
he is in for one almighty wake up

Yeah we want a straight seniority repick

Whether you are ft or pt

At the end of it we will have a number of ft and pt reserves.

Under the dims plans we would have pretty much all of our pt staff on duties

Even some of the pt ers dont think it's fair.

I just feel our area rep is not understanding us that well.

picking their own duties at will working for free for brown nose points >>> How can you pck your own duty at will? How is working for free making life cushy? Also, one should note or notice that many FT staff do/have the same

shopping ft staff in for any excuse for own benefit>>> So is that a part time perogative?

ot every morning to throw in own road even before ft staff start times>>> Is there a reason for that?

preferred treatment in allocation of easy ot ie. failed packet ot before ft staff>>> I am never offered OT, unless of course they are desperate. Mostly it goes to FT's that always get the OT

i could go on list is endless
Please go on I'm fascinated.

So, why does there seem to be a divide between FT and PT?

I'll carry it on for you.

Sick pay, holiday pay and bonuses paid pro rata based on contracted hours not actual hours worked.
Needing to work overtime just to get close to a full time wage.
S*** on by their full time colleagues who treat them with contempt, but expect them to stand along side them when things go wrong.
Abused and victimised by management while their fulltime colleagues ignore their plight.
Accused of taking the unwanted overtime from full time staff.
As you rightly say, the list is endless.

We don't need RM or the CWU to cause a divide between f/t and p/t. We are doing pretty well on our own.

Say IF you drop down in hours on a repick say from 39hrs to 35hrs. Can you move back up if/when your office has another repick or duty comes up for grabs?

Your manager will say "yes", but when the time comes, he'll deny it and you'll be stuck on 35.
