It would alleviate the pressure on deliveries, post revision of course and really protect jobs. The provision would also enable a 2 day break which many don't enjoy at present, of course there would be losers but apparently that is now the name of the game. There could well be potential for making part timers full time. There is much that could be done on Sunday to prepare for the week ahead. I'm sure that this is a contentious issue but it's surely something that should be considered even if it is rejected.
I've always felt that we should be a 7 day service, add a day not get rid of.
Packet and parcels wise that is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Who in their right mind wants to work saturday and sundays, and as for the cwu your not fooling anyone, surely you should be fighting for the welfare of the workers,
The job losses and the consequential loss of union subs would mean there was no longer a CWU fighting for the welfare of any workers.
The last time the unions fought for the workers was in the 70,s. The unions of today are thatchers children. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER ( apart from the workers) ring any bells. where is the f--k o-- government and cwu smilies.

how many people at your offices are not in the union ?
One of the reasons that the FT/PT ratio MUST be closely monitored is because some part timers on 24/25 etc contracts feel that they are already underpaid and another couple of quid out of the equation is excessive and therefore don't join the union. If the continued employment trend only employing PT staff is not addressed then it may well be that the CWU will be representing a smaller and smaller number of employees and threats of industrial action will mean nothing.

They also don't view it as a long term job.
The job, the company, the union - all of it becomes irrelevant.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This attitude is why the world is like it is, no one should be working on the sabbath. Sundays should be a day for god, and before you all start off on the religion thing,if you dont believe in god whichever one,it should be a day of rest to spend time with your family. Lets not go down the tesco route profits before people. Theres that old saying Mr Postman, GET A LIFE.
