you wait till the PDA is a year old, more like 3 hours
:chuckle :chuckle 5 year old PDAs and we're lucky if the batteries last 2 hours now but that's not my problem, if the battery runs out then that's their problem, not mine.

Where is the official written guidelines for that practice then? When we were told that mail shouldn't be in the front I asked the manager about the several hundred pound pda in the cabin and he just shrugged and said, "that is where they are stored, until I hear different that is where they go"

OK then, just don't come complaining if IB pull you up on it some day and your manager drops you in it like a pile of poo :nervous

I think a bit of common sense would come into it,if you are stopping to deliver a packet and the van is in sight i doubt it would be an issue but if you're disappearing off on a 40 minute loop in a high risk area leaving anything of value in plain sight whether it's the PDA,box keys or even your mobile phone would probably be seen as encouraging a breach in security.
At the end of the day it's not difficult to take it off it's cradle and pop it in the glove compartment.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

99% of the time you're going to need it on you anyway so to be honest it's a bit of a pointless argument.
