Good pointjontickle wrote:what about trollies? i dragged a trolley around all day with me today. It does not come to the door with me. It stays out on the pavement while i go to the door so technically this is the same offence as leaving a van unlocked as the trolley has no lock, hell it dont even have a brake.
Also what about the ice cream trollies? we all know how easy it is to access those, even when they are locked so is the variable here the potential loss of the van and not the mail as unless you have a pouch over your shoulder Posties everywhere are leaving mail unattended everyday.

Re: P & L driver suspended.
this could well back fire on the manager who done the driver, now if the rest of the drivers start working by wearing seat-belts,locking vans at altimes, working from the back of the van, doing van checks everyday, having meal-breaks at the right time, and working to there 318,s your office should have a great xmas.Jenny Manchester wrote:He was back in work today he say's he might get a 12 month or two year warning conduct code but he is quite about it seen him talking to union rep most of the day..
to be honest our managers turn a blind eye on the drivers in our area as they dont want to rock the boat, managers dont like roll-overs in november.

Cut off most the time at my 1.30pm finish time
Problem is people come in early, rush around on P/L trying to save time here and there to finish that little bit early. then moan about the grief from DOM's getting them to do lapsing etc,
My philisophy is come in on your time and get it into your head that you finish the same time every day, do everything by the book and if you dont finish you cut off.
The DOM's cant touch you ,you dont make mistakes by rushing they cant make you do lapsing , and its stress free

Seriously ?, that is the first time I have heard that , so we are expected to remove the PDA from its cradle everytime we get out of the van ???fishtank wrote:WHITEANT wrote:This is interesting , how far was he away from vehicle ?
Also be careful not to leave your PDA in the vehicle, those things might be worthless shite to us but leaving them in sight in the front of the vehicle even when it's locked is considered a security breach by IB.

Yes, it's in the security rules, put it in the glove box or locked in the back.............just like the mail (of course there should really be a cradle in the back of the vans but............bedfordrl wrote:Seriously ?, that is the first time I have heard that , so we are expected to remove the PDA from its cradle everytime we get out of the van ???fishtank wrote:WHITEANT wrote:This is interesting , how far was he away from vehicle ?

This is contrary to what we have been told. There is a specific place in the van to store the PDA and to keep the screen protected etc..
If they'd have wanted it stored in the back at all times, they'd have put the charger in the back. Also, it would become impractical to keep the gun charged throughout the day.
If anyone got conducted or sacked on this issue I would forsee a very strong defence!

Re: P & L driver suspended.
I doubt anyone could have a strong defence, RM makes the rules and we just follow them, the PDA is supposed to hold it's charge for 5 hours so you can't use that excuse plus, I don't care if it gets scratched, it's not my machine.banner18 wrote:DGP1 wrote:Yes, it's in the security rules, put it in the glove box or locked in the back.............just like the mail (of course there should really be a cradle in the back of the vans but............bedfordrl wrote:Seriously ?, that is the first time I have heard that , so we are expected to remove the PDA from its cradle everytime we get out of the van ???fishtank wrote:WHITEANT wrote:This is interesting , how far was he away from vehicle ?

And I did say about putting the cradle in the back of the van because that would be the most logical place for it.................but we all know that RM don't do logic

Re: P & L driver suspended.
PDA hold its charge for 5 hours
you wait till the PDA is a year old, more like 3 hours
