no they told us to pick which shifts we were willing to do out of 5 and most of them only 4 hours long. i think the ones i chose were 8-12 / 10-2 / and 10.30-6 for the night shift

Are you fixin' to work at the MDEC, in Etruria? If so, I believe they don't normally contact people until mid-November, and start them a week or so later. You could ring Reed in Hanley, I believe Angard/RM are using them in some capacity so they might know.

I'm in the same position, but a similar thing happened last year, so I'm not too worried and I will just wait until a week or two from now and then do the above.

PS- I've generally got my first choice of shift but it might happen that they put you on any.

Im in the same position, so i emailed Angard Staffing and this was there automated reply..

'Frequently asked questions

"Hired and agreed start date" on http://www.royalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you have recently logged into your application on the Royal Mail website
and your status is showing as "Hired and agreed start date", this means you
have passed full Security Clearance and are able to work at Royal Mail
through Angard, and will be contacted in due course as and when shifts
become available. This is an automated status, and it doesn't automatically
mean you have a start date agreed. We contact candidates on a shift by
shift basis and this status will enable us to include you in our searches
for available candidates'

Hope this helps :)

If you have applied for Christmas casual for this year it has nothing to do with Angard/Reed - you are being hired direct by Royal Mail.

If you are talking about just the Christmas period, RM are recruiting casuals not Angard.

Angard casuals will be working at RM during the Christmas period but they will be the "all year round" casuals.

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... as#p483082" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"As someone who has frequently worked for Royal Mail at Christmas we would like to thank you for your continued commitment and loyalty to our company.

Christmas is an extremely important time for Royal Mail and so are the people who work for us. As you know last year we subcontracted the vital role of recruiting and paying people to a third party supplier resulting in problems, which we are keen to avoid in 2012. So with this in mind we have taken the decision that for Christmas 2012, we will recruit all our casual employees directly and pay them via Royal Mail payroll system."

Angard recruit the regular casuals. According to Royal Mail they are having nothing to do with this year's Christmas casuals - you should be getting hired by Royal Mail direct. They maybe using them to do the "interviews" but that should be all they are doing. After last year's debacle of Angard recruiting Christmas casuals we received lots of cards/letters telling us Angard were not hiring Christmas casuals and Royal mail are hiring them. If Angard are hiring that is news - as said above they may just be recruiting for Royal Mail.

Keep hoping Angard are not responsible for paying you - see threads on here about pay for last year.

Has anybody who applied for the vacancy at Stockport MDEC received a start date yet? My status is 'hired and start date agreed', but as yet I haven't heard anything.
