If the selfish postie shafts you by working his day off on you're float duty for that day and you get moved to a crap duty you've not done, there's an answer and a fair one at that,,, you work you're day off on his duty and he /she gets moved on a different job THus everythings fair and they get experience of other jobs too! Let them see how it feels to get shat on by fellow workers. .

How exactly would the floater be 'getting shafted'?
A floater signs for a floating duty.
His duties are the 5 he covers.
What tends to happen is the floater is moved to "accomodate" the duty holder working his day off.
If you are the duty holder - you think this is brilliant.
If you are a floater, you feel like you are being treated like a reserve and you are being "shafted" - firstly by your colleague and then by management.
What should happen is whoever wants to work their day off should be the reserve. And if they don't like that they shouldn't work their day off.
Exactly. The duty holder has no claim whatsoever on that duty on the day the floater works it. On that day it is the floater's duty.

As someone has said previously on here, if you'll only work on your own duty on your day off, you don't really need the money.

If my day off was a tuesday and i worked it and finished my duty say 45 mins earlier than my contracted time of 8 hours would i be paid for just the hours i worked 7 1/4 hours for eg, or would i be paid my full 8 hours .
Do you really think you will be done before your finish time and will not have enough mail to work your full shift and get done early......lucky you

Either a very easy duty or a runner if you have the chance of finishing that early!

You should be lapsing / absorbing if you have all that time to spare.

you dont get a full shift for you,re day off at ours. if you want to come in, and are lucky enough to be asked, they,ll tell you to come in for 9 or half 9, so you,ll get maybe 5 or 6 and half hours at the most, and if you knock it back they wont ask you again,,,unless they,re desperate for cover
They tried that with us. Nobody worked their day off. Now we come out for the full shift.

So far this week, had my duty changed from the same walk all week, as the guy I was covering for's hols fell through so he decided he'd work instead. Duty tomorrow changed twice today as one of duty holders decided he'd work day off. Still no idea what walk I am on tomorrow.

Some of the monsters who openly brag about working there day off on the floaters duty for that day make me sick. CAn I ask to work my day off on his job,and if he says no ,,why not?
