He means if your duty has been risk assessed and the official method is a pouch then the maximum weight is 8kg.

If it'll keep the DOMS's precious budget down and below spending, then they'll let the post-person break their backs/ get done early (yes, even though the Delivery Methods is now in here and the DOM has said that any time at the end is HIS time they still rush around and come out with the classic, "I've not had my meal relief yet so adding to end") using the bags. Once you're off however with a back related injury and attribute it to carrying the bag then get ready for the classic, "we've never said that you shouldn't use the trolley - oh dear conduct issue too on top now."

If they really didn't want anyone to use bags, all they had to do was produce bags with no main handles and just side handles to lift them. I haven't seen anyone use the main handles to load bags or place on trollies etc..so why are they still there? What a simple thought to enforce trollies and yet we have seen millions of new bags produced, all with normal carrying handles on them? What does that say about RM policy on this issue?

One of our blokes got caught carrying bags by the DSM. No action taken but the bloke was told in no uncertain terms if he was caught again he would be conducted. Shame the DSM were'nt driving around to see the other 60% not using their LWT's.

Not all duties use trollies, you still need a shoulder strap to carry a bag when you're on such a duty.

Then why don't they cut off all the handles off the bags on duties that are trolly duties? I'll tell you why not, because it is all lip service and the operation would fail if they did.
