Contacting Angard for Shifts everyday??Bristol

Hi,
Have been with Angard since the start of July and to begin with, was fine. Had night shifts everyday for 6 weeks at Taunton, all booked the week before. When that ended, and as I live near Filton, started at Filton mail centre.I now have to phone angard everyday to try and get shifts,this has been going on for 7 weeks now...1 night on, 2 off, then 3 more on etc, etc, is this normal? or just for Bristol? The last thing I want to do after a 8, 9 or 12 hr shift is to spend 3hrs the next morning trying to arrange a shift for that night, only to be told 'we don't know yet, we'll get back to you' and nobody does. I have spoken to casuals from manpower who seem to have no problem getting shifts and are turning them down because they would like a rest!! A few Angard casuals at Bristol are experiencing the same problems, so any help would be appreciated.

I never understand this,the core amount of people for each shift would be known in advance,the only problem would be if there is a bit of sick.

Is it that f***ing hard to let you guys know before you go home?
We have some guys from there on here will point them here.

Shift managers know the required staffing,but try to scrimp on O/T because they want to look good in the eyes of MCM,plus it prob counts towards their bonus,hence the daily stitch ups and overworked,pissed off "core" staff....

MC I work at works fundamentally on a day to day basis - very rarely will we be booked in advance. The only times we have been booked in advance this year was Easter and August bank holiday week (most of which got cancelled anyway). We hardly ever get more than a few hours notice of work.

On top of that is the possibilty of losing the AWR status before the Xmas work starts and getting paid less in December than the seasonal RM casuals who get £8.11 ph on nights as far as I know. I've applied for lates via Angard and could be back to the minimum wage if I get a further 3 or 4 blank weeks.

Sorry dont understand.... Im CASHING IN my holiday pay now. It's just a certain amount of money we are owed. Makes no difference to me to get some of of it this week, or next, as the time I actually take holiday.

Im not even missing a chance of work as I only got (for example) 5 hours this week, and you can specify taking your holiday on a Saturday as far as I know (Ive only done 3 Sats all year)

Plus Im more or less promised 48 hours pw in December... not doing that for £6.19 ph!

I am hoping that someone will challenge this if and when those who have qualified for AWR find that due to Angards inability to get them shifts when it is known that people are working its not the individuals fault that they have not been given an assignment for 6 weeks.

Now I will try and explain again how I see the cashing in of leave. You work hours and get paid...some of that money is held back as leave pay...you accrue that and its shown (or was) on the payslip say you have 20 hours at £10, that would be £200 that you re quite within your rights to claim, get it into your account and spend it!!!

Im not saying "here is my money" I'm saying "give me some of the money now" and I will still be available to work Mon - Friday. I intend to "put it into my account and spend it"!

You are claiming your holiday entitlement in a way that will keep you on AWR. Why do you think Angard are keeping it - they are not. When you request holiday you get money - simples
