110 Double Deckers

Ive been running to NDC this week and ive noticed the new 110 double deckers are now in use, anyone been lucky enough to drive them and if so have you been able to fill them???

No, but just study the instruction manual before you set off in case a warning light comes on in the cab while on the motorway.
And not much chance of filling them with how mail volumes keep falling.

and... how can they be in use when there is NO SSOW written up or agreed for their use ?


edit... it's probably along the same reasoning that Eddie Stobarts are now pulling RM trailers to and from NDC to do local customer collections because apparently they cannot get enough agency drivers to cover the duties from Manpower .......... All is lost in that depot !

They probably will fill them as all stuff that used to arrive at MCs in RSCs now arrives in yorks. Apart from being longer (so having to allow more room for overhang etc), how are they any different for the drivers to operate from the current shorter double deckers?

they have rear wheel steering which takes a bit of getting used to, drivers have to be trained up to use them, thats the difference.And as for falling volumes of mail,dont get me started on that one,i go on a break and my lorry gets loaded for me, when i get to the mail centre to unload and find the majority of yorks have very little on them and the sleeved yorks are practically empty, it pisses me off, why cant they use their fecking brains they were born with and start consolidating them??? It gives a false indication of how much mail is actually on the truck!!!

ive had a 110 d/d this week and its been a full house of 110 yorks out of swindon to NDC....

what are they like to drive ???

lovely going forward....
an accident waiting to happen when going backwards....

i really dont understand why RM have got them, all that extra cost, all those accidents and shunts in yards and mailcentres...
and for what ???
just to carry 20 extra yorks !

Is it possible to lock the rear axle on them? Would have thought that would make reversing easier

no you cannot lock the rear axle on them,

provided you have the room and its not busy, they are actually more manoeuvrable than a normal trailer to reverse, you just have to remember the horrendous overhang when going backwards though !
