Re: Gross misconduct
Not too bad, could go either way I suppose. Got to wait for the notes to sign and return and see what happens.

Re: Gross misconduct
Make your own notes, get your rep or whoever went in to the meeting with you to sign them and then you send them to the manager to sign before the manager sends you his notes. That way he can't argue that you have changed your story after the fact.
If you don't agree with the manager's notes, don't sign them.
Tell whoever went in with you not to sign anything until they've had a chance to properly consider it. I've had a manager meet my friend in the car park and take him upstairs to pressurise him to sign notes before I had even seen them.

Re: Gross misconduct
The boundaries on what is acceptable conduct on social networking are very blurred especially for those who work in public bodies.
"The South Yorkshire officer resigned after an allegation of improper disclosure of information on Facebook, while others posted inappropriate comments or pictures. Another constable, Nestor Costa, of Devon and Cornwall police, was fined three days' pay in 2008 after writing under a video of a youth with a knife being tackled by officers in a police station: "Look at this stupid c***, hope he gets a good f***ing shoeing in the cells."

Re: Gross misconduct
The manager dealing with it is having to reinterview people because the first manager made a complete hash of it. I have 2 witnesses who will tell them I hadn't done it before nor been warned or had any kind of formal chat about it.
5 months suspension for this is a joke. To put it in comparison a lad was suspended for 9 months and was transferred to another unit and someone else lost a bag of specials costing rm £45000 and he was given no suspension just a 2 or 3 year serious.

Re: Gross misconduct
Manager dealing with it is refusing to interview a witness now. Can I refuse to recognise any further correspondence until the 2nd witness is spoken to? Plus the interview notes are all over the shop, names incorrect, chunks missing including the names if other witnesses.

Re: Gross misconduct
Well that's a breach of procedure, so your Rep should be able to use that to your advantage. But I doubt that you'd be able to just ignore further correspondance, because that would be a breach of procedure on your part, and could potentially backfire. If your Rep is any good, you should be ok because of the Manager's refusal to interview important witnesses. Good luck.

Re: Gross misconduct
I love this - "if your rep is any good" business.
If they want to sack you they will.
They might realise that they will have a hard time at an employment tribunal but they don't appear to care too much.
I don't know what you did or who you upset but 5 months suspension is beyond a joke.
Perhaps they have been told they can't sack you and are hoping you will crack under the strain.

I think if you get to keep your job, we should have a Royalmailchat party.......and Postman should foot the bill.

Your Office should follow Preston's example and threaten a disruptive walkout and a work to rule, that should put the sh1ts up them.
