I think you misunderstood my post Jenny. I was being sarcastic. Basically if you tell them you are cutting off you WILL get bullied/harassed, but if you don,t tell them and you cut off it will be wilful delay and you will be down the job centre.

Very true. If only it was as simple as "Gaffer I've got to finish on my time this is what I'm leaving". More like "What do you mean you're finishing on your time, you mean you can't complete, it's a light day, here are the traffic figures, everyone else is completing, you shouldn't be going over your time today." Repeated for about 15 minutes. With murmurs about performance standards thrown in.

Managers now ALWAYS argue about whether you can cut off, regardless of how heavy or light a day is. It must be in the gaffer rulebook.

You forgot - and you owe me 30 minutes from 4 Tuesdays ago.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Ha! Yeah that as well. I also forgot to mention the "market scene in Life of Brian" scenario where manager gets his harder gaffer mate involved and tells him"ere this bloke wants to cut off". Hard gaffer mate then comes and looks at your frame, looks cross and shakes his head.

None of that matters, people talk too much in awkward uncomfortable situations, when there is no need to :shhhhh .

Once you have decided that you are working to time, the rest is all stuff of nonsence and waffle.

There is no need to argue :no no , arguing implies there is something to argue about. You are working to time ....your right... your choice....end of.

All the "he can do this" and "she can do that" and head shaking is all part of the stuff of nonsence and waffle, it doesn't alter the fact that you are finishing.

Is head shaking going to make you feel bad, doff your cap and back out of the office with your head lowered in shame  ? :hmmmm I think not. IT'S THEIR PROBLEM, NOT YOURS, i'm not being bolshy about it, just stating a genuine fact.
Tripitaka: "You should live without fear. There's as much chance of good things as bad things."
Sandy: "It's a cheerful philosophy and I've heard it from people before. They're all dead now."
Monkey "Excuse me when I say, that you really are extraordinarily dim!"

That's 15 minutes that you can't be delivering. Which you might want to point out. :whistle

Finally someone has mentioned the crucial matter of informing before you leave office. you MUST tell your LM before you leave that you don't have time to complete delivery. Ask them if they want you to take out only what you can get done OR if they want you to bring back anything undeliverd.

you must deliver everything you agree to take out so don't take too much if you have to finish on time. if you take too little and come back 15 mins early you can do indoors awork till finish time.

The only time you are allowed to bring back mail unagreed or call up out of the blue saying you can't get done is if you have been delayed eg breakdown, accident, sprained ankle etc. all this is agreed with cwu.
