Offered a Christmas job, now what?

Post by stacez456 »

I have been offered one of the Christmas Casual roles, but I am wondering what happens now.
I was given a start date, but the interviewer told me there would be a training day, should I expect to hear from someone or something informing me of this?

Just feel a bit worried and feel like its not set in stone. Do I just turn up on the day? Very confused?

If anyone can post what they were told at their interview would be a great help.

Thanks :Very Happy

Moved to Angard/xmas forum.
Have you checked your emails, the emails when you log on to your application that is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In both 2009 and 2010 I was initially told it would be one hour induction at the start of the first shift, but then received a call to go in a few days before my scheduled start to attend induction, whch basically consisted of a quick tour of the building and the usual health and safety/manual handling techniques/security videos.

I have never had a training day in 3 Christmas starts. Most I had was my first Christmas where I was given an "Induction" on my start day which consisted of: checking our passes; a quick chat; a Health & Safety video and a tour looking down at the work area with a description about each section - lasted less than an hour.

When do we receive our ID tags? When I started a couple of years ago they handed them out on our first day but I'm sure I read about someone getting theirs posted to them :confused

Just a bit nervous about the whole process as I thought I had the job last year after going to the registration event then ended up not hearing back from anyone.

Posting was only done by Angard to regular casuals as far as I know.

Christmas casuals normally get them on their first day/induction time.
