Just endorsed the letter/packet with the date and attemp the following day.

no,you mark them no access, given they will fit in the letterbox when you(eventually) gain access

Surely if you have to buzz the addressee because the service button is off and there's no answer that counts as an attempted delivery and any subsequent attempts are in fact free redeliveries? The difference with front-and-back properties is the P739 can be left in place of the packet as proof of attempted delivery.
